On the night of May 18, 2025, the community of Plevna, Kansas, was struck by a devastating EF2 tornado—the largest in the state since 2019. The tornado, nearly a mile wide at its peak, left a trail of destruction approximately 25 miles west of Hutchinson and just 15 miles from the home of Lindsay Love, Client Relations Manager at National Credit Adjusters (NCA).
While no NCA employees were directly affected, the proximity of the disaster prompted immediate action from the company. NCA has donated to assist families impacted by the tornado and has organized the collection of essential supplies for cleanup crews and displaced residents.
“Prior to my grandfather’s passing four years ago, I spent most of my time in Plevna on his farm. That is where I developed my love for horses, cattle, and the rural life,” said Love. “The devastation caused by this tornado hit close to home given my emotional connection to the area as well as its proximity—just 15 miles from our home. It’s been truly amazing and heartwarming to see so many folks from surrounding areas come together to help wherever they can.”
Coordinated Relief Through United Way of Reno County
In the aftermath of the tornado, NCA collaborated with the United Way of Reno County and the Abbyville Community Center, where the Red Cross has established a relief hub. The United Way is actively coordinating support for response and recovery efforts, providing immediate assistance and long-term support services to those affected by the disaster.
Donations are being directed to the United Way’s Disaster Recovery Fund, which aids in providing essential resources such as food, shelter, and hygiene products to displaced families. Additionally, the organization is accepting specific donations, including gift cards to Dillons or Walmart, new phone chargers, and unopened hygiene items, to support those impacted by the tornado.
